The hall in Keels is currently maintained by Keels Catholic Women’s Association for Sts. Peter & Paul Parish. Originally built by the men of the community as a one-room school, it closed in the 1950s and the children went to the school in King's Cove. In the late 1970s the Catholic Women Association sponsored a government-funded program which saw the beginnings of the building being used as a parish hall/community centre.  Subsequent funding supported the addition of a new section, water and sewage and a kitchen. Over the years, vinyl siding and windows have been added to the "old" part, but the original wooden structure is still the same that was built in the 1860s.
