The Mockbeggar Plantation was built in the 1870s as a fishery plantation site with shops, stores and factories built on the property over the following years. Originally inhabited by a local merchant, the main house was restored in 1939 when it served as home to politician and Confederation advocate F. Gordon Bradley.
