Biennale Program Assistant (2 positions)
 
Start Date: July 24, 2023
End Date: September 2, 2023 (with possibility to extend) *
Full time (35 hrs / week)
Hourly rate: $16/hr
 
Please note: These positions are funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, candidates must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
 
Join the Bonavista Biennale team and play an essential role in delivering the 2023 edition. As a Program Assistant, you’ll be working directly with our curatorial team and artists to build relationships, and ensure artists and attendees get the most out of their visit to the Biennale. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about planning and running a large-scale contemporary art event and meet artists and visitors from all over the world. The 2023 Bonavista Biennale will run from August 19 – September 17.
 
Tasks include:
• Tracking artist travel as they arrive to the Bonavista Peninsula;
• Contributing to the hosting of artists and other guests of the Biennale;
• Assisting with the logistics, set up and delivery of on-site programs, including performances, talks and workshops
• Assisting with installation / de-installation of art projects as required;
• Building welcome packages for artists and other special guests;
• Liaising with artists and partners participating in the Biennale as required;
• Assisting with visual documentation of Biennale activities;
• Assisting with content creation and social media scheduling and posting;
• Assisting with the organization and digitizing of media coverage, reports, and other Biennale documentation;
• Assisting with cross-promotional opportunities with community partners;
• Monitoring upkeep of projects at various sites around the Peninsula;
• Acting as a Site Ambassador during Biennale hours to welcome attendees, answer questions and provide information;
• Scheduling and liaising with other Site Ambassadors and casual contractors;
• Attending team meetings as required;
• Assisting with day-to-day administrative duties (including scheduling, email correspondence, etc.) as required.
 
Preliminary tasks may be completed remotely although residency on the Bonavista Peninsula will be required beginning August 8, 2023. We are unable to provide accommodations, but may be able to help you secure a place.
 
A driver’s license and access to vehicle will be considered an asset (mileage to be reimbursed at provincial rate).
